New year, new me!
wait, it’s still 2024-
Hello, World! …again!
Over the past few months I’ve been going through bits and pieces of my online identity, and decided that a lot of it could use some TLC.
I updated my profiles on a bunch of different services, cut down on the amount of internet slop seeping into my daily life, and last but not least; remade this site!
The old site was pretty basic, empty and boring (this one is pretty empty and boring as of now too, but hopefully that’ll change soon).
I made it using Zola, a static HTML generator. This time around, it’s yet another (mostly) static HTML generator: Astro.
Very creative, I know, but I don’t really need anything more than a static site to show stuff off.
Although the site’s project is now a good bit larger, it’s easier to read and work with, which means that I might actually update it more than once every year or two. Keyword might.
I haven’t really worked on anything webdev-related in a long time, so I spent about a week mostly messing with CSS, trying to get this site to look somewhat presentable.
My girlfriend also encouraged my dumb idea to make it look vaguely like Half-Life’s WON-era menu, which I pretty quickly gave up on when it comes to accuracy.
I still think it looks good enough, though.
Having something I cooked up myself up here, along with actually being able to enjoy writing the code for it, is a pretty nice feeling.
I’ll probably write another blog post by the time I fill out the Projects section.
